Spirits were high and vehicles whipped into showcase shape as soon as the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and the Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) announced that July 8 would mark the second celebration of National Collector Car Appreciation Day.
The declaration, an opportunity for collectors to promote the hobby, share their passion and hit the highways for a little cruising, inspired a huge response around the country. Auto enthusiasts turned up in droves at shows, parking lots and in parades, helping to make this year’s commemoration a repeat hit.
While hundreds of successful events took place across the country, the weather didn’t quite cooperate for the big American Collectors Insurance show. A colossal storm blanketed the entire East Coast, drenching our headquarters in New Jersey with heavy downpours throughout the day. We still had about 20 diehard classic car owners display their rides despite the conditions, proving just how strong the passion for this hobby can be. Whether it was face painting in our building’s lobby or sneaking a little barbecue in between the rain drops, everyone in attendance had a great time.
American Collectors would like to thank all those who braved the elements, as well as everyone who helped with the event. We hope you got a chance to enjoy your vehicle as part of National Collector Car Appreciation Day, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s festivities!
