Agents Get New ‘Driver’s Manual’ to Navigate Collector Markets
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 25, 2006)—American Collectors Insurance, a national provider of collector-vehicle and collectibles insurance, is driving a ’57 Chevy right onto the floor at the Big “I” convention with a first-ever display of a collector vehicle at the industry event.
The American Collectors exhibit area features a first-class 1957 Chevy Bel Air that “is emblematic of a great American tradition of collecting, restoring, and showing cars from days gone by. It will stop people in their tracks. It’s a must-see,” commented Laura Bergan, director of marketing, American Collectors Insurance.
“We invite every agent and broker at the Big ‘I’ convention, young and old, to take an up-close look at a pulse-quickening collector car and a relationship-enhancing insurance coverage,” Bergan said, adding that American Collectors also will be offering agents a new marketing manual that helps them navigate the attractive collector marketplace.
“The brand-new eight-page ‘driver’s manual’ highlights the new marketing support available for agents to help them easily and profitably serve the collector market—a market that offers opportunities for higher client retention and a greater bond between agents and customers/prospects.”
There’s another surprise for agents at the convention: a secret giveaway. The valuable prize, to be drawn from among agents who leave their business card at the booth, will be awarded during the convention. The car will be at booth 217 starting Wednesday, April 26, thru Friday, April 28.
“The ’57 Chevy is a classic collector vehicle, but is only one of hundreds of models that American Collectors insures,” Bergan added. “If we had one of every collector vehicle—car, truck and motorcycle—that we covered, we couldn’t fit them all in the biggest parking lot in the U.S.”
“A collector-vehicle policy can help agents capture the hearts and checkbooks of car buffs among their clients and prospects,” Bergan explained. “When agents ask customers and prospects if they own a collector vehicle, that question immediately builds a stronger relationship since it will recognize the individual’s most prized possession. It lets the insurance professional build a relationship based on factors besides price.”
American Collectors Insurance partners with carriers and independent agents and brokers to provide collector-vehicle coverage and also offers coverage directly to consumers. Approximately 7% of Americans own a collector vehicle, according to research cited by The Wall Street Journal, which means 18 million people need collector-vehicle insurance coverage.
The ’57 Chevy is owned by exhibitor Mike Brown of API, a provider of gifts and premium products. API also is a supplier of custom-imprinted promotional products to IIABA and its members.
