Spending a day or weekend at a car show with children is not only a fun way to spend time together, but it’s also a wonderful way to nurture their interest in the hobby. A recent survey by American Collectors Insurance found that 47% of current car collectors were introduced to the hobby by a parent or family member.
The Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO), a council of SEMA, developed The Take a Kid to a Car Show campaign to help introduce a younger generation to this hobby. The program is dedicated to:
· Sharing the classic car hobby with kids
· Encouraging involvement by a new generation of automotive restoration enthusiasts
· Giving kids a constructive choice as to how to spend their time
Sharing the hobby with the next generation helps them to appreciate collector cars and is a great way to pass on strong values such as respect and dedication, along with an awareness of the value of our history and culture. It’s also a positive way of encouraging children to express their own personal style.
