Celebrating 45 Years of Muscle with 45 Stunning Cars

Forty-five years after he introduced the original Ford Mustang, Lee Iacocca is about to launch a new edition of the famous muscle car – the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang. Only 45 of the collector Mustangs will be built and they will all be painted a special “Iacocca” chosen silver color. The first one is expected to go on sale in late July and will be sold through Galpin Ford in suburban Los Angeles, the biggest Ford dealer in the world. The price is yet to be announced.

The original mustang was launched on April 27, 1964 and landed Iacocca on the covers of Time and Newsweek magazines. Ford nicknamed it a "1964½" model because it arrived later in the model year. The Iacocca Silver Anniversary Mustang will also be nicknamed a “2009½” model.

The Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang is a result of collaboration between Iacocca, designer Michael Leone and Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, the world-class coachbuilding and Design Company in Fountain Valley, Calif. The new business venture is called I Legacy.

The car is a standard 2009 Ford Mustang underneath, however it is fitted with an extensive Metalcrafters body and modified interior trim. There is also a dashboard plaque with the serial number and Iacocca's signature. It has a standard 4.6-liter V-8 rated 320 horsepower Ford engine and has a five-speed manual transmission. There is an optional supercharged V-8 rated 400 hp engine available as well.

Fun Times at the Open House

We want to send a big thank you to all who were in attendance on Tuesday for our Open House celebration. It was a great time with some cool cars, fun stories and a chance to meet some of our policyholders, partners and agents. Thank you so much for sharing your evening with us and bringing along such great cars!

A wide variety of cars made the cruise down Kings Highway. Everything from a Model T to a ‘57 Bel Air, and a red hot ’69 Camaro graced our parking lot. It was also fun to hear about how back in 1967 it only cost $69 for the owner of the beautiful blue ’67 Thunderbird to get its special-ordered paint job!

Congratulations to all of our prize winners of the day, we hope that everyone enjoys their goodies! We would like to extend a special thank you to GMP Diecast, Hemmings, ACC Mats, Trimparts and all of our other partners who provided giveaways and goodies for our event.

Come One, Come All to the American Collectors Insurance Open House!

Join American Collectors Insurance on Tuesday, June 16th* from 5:00-7:00 pm as we celebrate our new corporate headquarters. If you’re in the greater Philadelphia area, we invite you to stop by and check out our new facility, which includes space for local clubs to host meetings. Plus, you can enjoy light refreshments and spend time with fellow hobbyists looking at cool cars. Have a classic car of your own? Feel free to bring it along and show it off!

Immediately following the event, we’ll be cruising to the Evergreen Dairy Bar on Route 70 in Southampton, NJ.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

On June 24, 2009, the much anticipated sequel to the 2007 blockbuster, Transformers, will see Sam Witwicky once again uniting forces with the Autobots against the Decepticons. This high-tech vehicles film will introduce new vehicles/characters and is expected to be packed with thrilling action scenes and awesome effects. Watch out for the Audi R8 transforming into a robot!

Many of the new Autobot cars were supplied by General Motors and were featured at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. One new Autobot, “Jolt” is based on Chevy’s upcoming extended-range electric vehicle the Volt. The real Volt is expected to transform driving in America with its Voltec Powertrain system. Corvette designers at GM designed “Sideswipe”, a pure concept silver corvette stingray that is combined with other generation Corvettes and is equal parts racecar and space ship. The “Trax” and “Beat” compact concepts will also be seen in the film as “Skids” and “Mudflap.” In addition, “Bumblebee” the Chevy Camaro will once again have a starring role in the film.
